????Pablo Picasso was one of the most famous and prolific artists of all time. During his lifetime of 92 years---he was born in 1881 and died in 1973--he produced thousands of paintings, drawings and sculptures. He dominated Western art in the 20th century and no useful discussion of art is possible without reference to his work. Not only is he important because of his own work, he is equally important, perhaps, for his influence on other artists and developments in modern art.
????Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain. He showed his talent at a very early age and was admitted to advanced classes at the Royal Academy of Art in Barcelona when he was only 15. When he was 23, he moved to Paris where he lived and worked for many years. The early years in Paris are known as his "Blue Period" because blue was the dominant color in his paintings which were mostly about poor people.
????Picasso Paris studio became the artistic center of Paris and many famous artists were attracted to his work and ideas. These include such great names as Matisse and Braque. In 1907 Picasso departed from his previous styles and began to experiment with what has been called "Cubism".
????One of the artist's most famous works was inspired by the bombing of the Spanish town Guernica by the Fascist forces during the Spanish Civil War in 1931. This work can be seen in the Queen Sofia Centre of Art in Madrid.
????Apart from his paintings, Picasso worked on sculptures, ceramics and stage designs. He continued working until his death, and is recognized as one of the most outstanding artists in the world. There is probably not an art gallery of any importance anywhere that does not have at least a number of his drawings or paintings.
63.In what way was Picansso prolific? ?
A.?He influenced many other young artists in the world.
B?.He showed his talent for painting when he was young.
C.?He left behind thousands of paintings, drawings and sculptures.
D.?He dominated Western art in the whole 20th century.
64.Which of the following statements is NOT true? ?
A.?Picasso is especially well-known for his style of art "cubism".
B.?It seems impossible to discuss art if his work is not referred to.
C.?An event in the Spanish Civil War inspired one of his most famous work.
D. In 1907 Picasso left Paris and began to change his focus on the color blue.
65.Where can we see one or more of Picasso's works? ?
A.?Only in the Queen Sofin Centre of Art in Madrid.
B.?In every art gallery in the European countries.
C.?In many important galleries all over the world.
D.?In the Royal Acaderiy of Art in Barcelona.
